Hello and welcome to the malkan Show podcast. I am Meghna Malkan. Thanks so much for joining me today on this episode of the podcast. I know your time is valuable and I'm really happy that you're listening to me today.

Let’s admit it we are all living in this age of instant gratification and we'll talk about something like consistency it Seems oddly out of place or more like out of ethos and yet this is what eventually leads to everyone's Evolution. For instance.

Let's talk about Mankind's perennial quest to achieve Prosperity, which is considered the Hallmark of being successful. So, we as a society have been Charmed of our songs by all these get-rich-quick schemes, you know, all this full of Treasure Trove of stories.

There's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow which promises to be of instant prosperity and gratification, the path to Prosperity is considered littered with all the send efficacy event in Heritage of some stroke of magical luck. Alas, you know nothing could be further from the truth.

Consistency as it turns out is a fundamental aspect of taking effective action Prosperity or abundance as you may say.

May begin with that mindset, but they are not achieved at that moment. All though is important to dream and visualize abundance to send that clear visions to your mind or visualization does not discount the hard work you have to put in and that too regularly every single day so that you manifest that abundance and make it your reality.

So, success guys are not just about that momentous action that you take today or some other day, nor it is that Stroke of Luck or a magical Quantum Leap that you take to make a difference.

 

Nothing great was ever achieved by those who apply themselves once in a while, abundance is found by consistently putting one step after the other, whatever you do consistently every day besides your direction in life and it is that simple and that which creates the Monumental difference between where you are now and where you will be in a handful of days.

So, if you see the Cambridge Dictionary defines consistency as being always behaving or happening in a similar especially in a positive way.

 So to be consistent means to fully dedicate yourself completely to a task or activity or a goal.

It means to stay engaged without any distraction day after day, but here guys time plays a significant role in this whole concept of consistently one can be extremely motivated and enthusiastic about achieving one's goal, but what happens when they do not get the desired results, that is the time when a person's strength of character gets tested.

Most of us must have heard about our former president of India late. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's inspirational Journey from his humble roots to all the way to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the most prestigious building in the nation.

So, when Dr. Kalam’s first major project failed in the year 1979. He was totally shattered and this project was a culmination of ten years of hard work of numerous researchers and scientists.

 

Of course, the doctor was deeply attached to this project, but the thing is at the same time his childhood friend also passed away and that shattered him so much and yet he did not think of quitting the project.

He says I knew that to achieve this success we have all worked very hard and give ____for so long and a few months later in 11 months to be precise. His project was launched. Under His Brilliant leadership.

 

There is no greater power in heaven or on Earth than be committed to a dream he used to say. So, being consistent is like a Mason who builds a building Brick by Brick not like a Maverick painter who creates a masterpiece when visited by flash of Brilliance. There's a dramatic difference between these two but even creative Mavericks have a way with their methods.

 

So, let's talk about creativity and consistency. The very nature of creativity is to understand patterns and to break away from those patterns. As simple as that, only when we understand the deviation from the norm we can create something extraordinary, thus for every creative person while discipline is the only thing that can take the craft further, it is also the one thing you find ways to run away from.

So, it seems that consistency and creativity are always at loggerheads when it comes to taking credit for Success creativity redial slow death at the hands of monotony and my team but monotony is always The Unwanted progeny of creativity. However, for you to keep on doing the same thing again and again and yet not die of boredom. It's a big big challenge with needs to be really understood well.

 

So, consistency is a quest for every creative person, and like all Quest, it's an elusive one. Because, while every creative person seeks consistency, they also seek Liberation from consistency at the same time.

If you go to see so, discipline is not just important to hone your craft but it is a prerequisite for it because creativity will not emerge on its own creativity has it has to be cultivated, it has to be worked on day after day week after week month after month.

The creative muscle like any other muscle only gets stronger if it is exercised regularly. So, for that, you need to be disciplined and committed to your craft to your Enterprise and to your medium of expression.

 

Let’s talk about consistency and commitment, to be consistent requires tremendous commitment on your part. That's a fact we all know that it requires that you commit yourself to that sustained effort over a long term.

What this essentially means is that you keep your word to yourself and to others that you will follow through with what you said on to do consistently over a period of time. Up until the moment your objectives are achieved or until you have achieved your goals.

So as such consistency is all about your ability to be Dependable to be reliable and responsible for all your choices decisions and actions. So now let's understand why is it difficult to be consistent? What usually happens is that we combust all our energy and all our enthusiasm in the initial days of walking the path that leads to our goal.

That's with everyone. We overdose on practice and overwhelm ourselves with motivational paraphernalia much like this overenthusiastic athlete who spends all his energy in gaining the lead in the first lap of the readings, but eventually burned out and losses in the same way.

We also lose sight of the long path lying ahead of us in order to maintain the leap or in some cases we are unable to put a lid on her enthusiasm and channel it in a fruitful manner. So, what happens is once you Gorge yourself and practice you stop practicing for a few months and eventually return to it.
What happens is your back right back at square one. So, at this rate, the progress is really very very slow.

A far better approach is that of the Tortoise is in The Tortoise and the Hare story each step may seem to take forever. But no matter how uninspired you feel continue to follow your practice schedule precisely and consistently.

This is how we can use our greatest enemy which is habit against its own self. So, the habit of consistency is not about obtaining quick results. It's rather about maintaining that about making that incremental progress and influence over an extended period of time.

 

As Darren Hardy think that's The Compound Effect, but even if small actions taken over a period of time that generate the beautiful results that we all want. So, but guys, even if it looks like a big deal.

 

To inculcate the habit of be consistent recall - recall all those poor habits that you have adopted mindlessly then ever-increasing bonds that you complaining about is the result of consistently snacking a few unhealthy Foods, Say on the pretext of I'm just having it only today and saying this every day you've been doing that day after day since the past many months, isn't it?

So, what if It is so easy to inculcate bad habits. It is equally easy to be consistent with evolutionary habits.

 

Let's talk about how do you build that consistency? So, repeating something over and over again forms the foundation of any skill we want to learn. But being consistent makes different demands on different individuals.

That's a fact. as Arsene Wenger says when you look at people who are successful, you will find that they are the people who are motivated but have consistency in their motivation. So, guys consistency in action is about evolution, it's not about mindlessly repeating an action over and over again.

It’s not about that. It's about learning, growing, and adapting your actions that can help lead to incremental improvements over an extended period of time. So consistency in action is about gaining ever greater insights and understandings about what it is you're doing and subsequently making the necessary adjustments to these actions to help improve your results and performance or A long period of time.

So, it's essentially, it's all about improving your efficiency each step of your journey.

And it demands that we still focused on making incremental improvements and just not stick with the status quo which most of us find very comfortable to do so, it means that if you want to be consistent you need to understand that the greatest power lies in the present moment, therefore, consistency demand that you stay vigilant Mindful and present for the task at hand without losing focus.

It demands that you're able to discipline yourself for this moment and only to this moment without exception.

 

So, few pointers here to get started guys:

  • Pointer no 1: Develop Focus keeping the big picture in view is absolutely important, but the focus needs to be on the small steps on a daily weekly and monthly basis that eventually lead to you're goal. When you consistently focus on the smaller pieces and execute them one by one the total finesse. It will certainly lead you to the bigger picture

 

  • Pointer no. 2: Develop winning habits -As Darren Hardy says success is often the result of certain habits that are practiced on a regular basis. For instance. If you want to drop a few inches from your waist supposed two inches from your waist in the next one month, you need to develop specific habits a strict diet exercise routine positive affirmations being that mindset which needs all of these need consistent practice. So, but the fact is especially when it comes to weight loss or nourishment when it comes to the execution part most people fail because they do not register these as significant habits that will lead them to success. But the fact is Guy when you Embrace these habits as winning habits the sense of joy and accomplishment and achievement you feel each day after the silent motivator for you to help you to go further till you achieve your goal.

 

  • pointer in no. 3:  Do what you love and love what you do. It is far easy to be consistent when you're doing something that you love to do. Take responsibility for the process itself, not the results. Remember as Lord Krishna had suggested keeping your focus on the karma or the action helps you stay grounded at the moment. When you move your focus away from the fact that you don't like what you're doing, and you do it simply because it's your responsibility. You will not feel The Angst of being stuck with something that you don't like.

 

  • Pointer no. 4: Tackle Boredom,  feeling bored of course kills consistency. So, to do away with the monotony of the routine bring some variety to it. Focus on how best you can enjoy the routing itself. You don't like to exercise make it run by turning your routine exercise into something very interesting and something fun. Applied to all areas of life, when you make your routine interesting, you have a greater chance of developing that consistency which seems also elusive. You’ll follow it on an Autopilot mode.

 

  • Pointer no. 5: An important one again use your environment. Your environment is full of triggers that cause emotional responses on the conscious as well as subconscious level use it to your advantage and make an environment a constant reminder of things you need to do that. You have to when you will do write your goals and posters or the small wall-mounted calendars or anything you can see with little or no effort.

 

And the last one and a very important one is our journey is worth more than the destination and nothing to be said better than this. It's often your own reaction to obstacles your emotional self-destruction that leaves you astray from the path.

So when you're disappointed that you're not achieving any kind of result that you really wanted to you may love the disappointment to affect your self-esteem and tarnish your self-image, but it's so important is to make a commitment to yourself that you will enjoy the journey with an understanding that the destination is 100% Beyond, you know, it's not too far for you to achieve.

If you are let elsewhere don't let that distract you choose to recalibrate and enjoy the journey.
