Hello and welcome to the Malkans Show podcast. I am an Meghna Malkan. Thanks so much for joining me today on this episode of the podcast. I know your time is valuable and I'm really happy that you're listening to me today. I have begun with this podcast because after being coached by the world's best I wanted to share with you guys.
What success habits success tools and q’s have helped me that Do you think used have had me get on to higher levels of performance at work have great relationship with my spouse and kids what really helps me stay focused and motivated all the time. So guys, let's dive into the next episode.
We all have set big goals right That's a wonderful thing. So let's talk about execution of steps to reach our big goals and let's talk about effortless execution here. Of course one way to go to achieve.
All our goals is to go big on everything to try to do it all have it all and fitted on in. and maybe your if you try to do this you're operating under the false logic that the world that the more you strive the more you will achieve what reality is the more you reach for the stars the harder it is to get us yourself off the ground.
Where is a different approach could be this instead of trying to accomplish it all and all at once and flaring out you means start small and celebrate small progresses. So instead of going for the big flashy winds that do not really matter. How about pursuing small and simple wins in areas that are essential that the only matter to you achieving that goal?
So when you are helping people to achieve their goals, how about rewarding there in the middle of small wins that very damn in celebrating the progress that Benjamin who was so lets you do that multiple times any multiply that type of positive interaction but thousands and thousands of time for years four months and years together you can sense and you can feel the difference that will begin to make in their lives.
So every time You recognize somebody didn't recommend someone for doing something good that person will more be much more motivated to continue doing that good until eventually doing good becomes natural and effortless for him.
So think about it guys when you want to create major changes in your life you often think that I need to lean with something huge or grandiose like all those people who have these weight loss tablets of losing maybe 15 gauges or 20 gauge has two short of the rough time what happens to them because they are Visions are so large and so ambitious.
They try to I mean what happens is eventually they abandoned the project as too burdensome and there is an appealing not into this that do something big they feel that they have looked hard being have to think of all the pain behind up initiatives that people get started with but never end up on the mounting to anything Progressive just like the big not the witness box and people have research has shown that of all forms of human motivation.
Mission the most effective one is progress and why is that so because a small concrete win create that momentum and affirms our faith in our future successes research also shows that the true two primary internal motivators for people are achievement and recognition of that achievement. So every progress even a small win can make all the difference and how you can feel and perform of all the things It can boost emotions motivation.
And perceptions during the workday the simple most important thing is to make progress in meaningful work.
So how about instead of starting big and then flaring out with nothing to show for it other than time and energy wasted. How about if you really get essential things done, you need to start small and build that momentum. And then what you can do is you can use that momentum to work towards the next one and the next one and so on.
Until you would have had a significant breakthrough and when we do our progress that become so friction-less and effortless that the breakthrough will see to you like an overnight success.
Because guys there is power this huge power and steadiness and repetition. Then you encourage and reward people for the small heroic acts you consciously and deliberately create a system where these heroic adds eventually become natural and effortless and I believe we have a choice all of us do we can use our energies to set up a system that makes execution of goodness easy, or we can resign ourselves.
System that actually makes it harder to do all this power tool and you can create these kind of systems everywhere beat at home with his spouse or with your kids which works exceptionally great or with with your friends with your colleagues at work place. It works everywhere. The key is to start small and goodies progress and celebrate the small wins. Now, let's focus on some ideas on how do you get started?
First one is to consider this It's always better that something is getting done rather than being perfected everything. How about it? So this this idea is not about producing something rubbish. It's not that the idea is to not waste any more non-essential stuff and just get two things being done. Similarly. You can also have this method of monitoring small progress small important progress that matters. So, how about asking yourself? What is the smallest amount of progress?
Especially useful and valuable to this task that I'm trying to get done. And then once you do just focus on getting that task done, that's all. The second idea here could be you know, there would be other ways to approach an important goal or deadline. You can either start early and small or start late and the remember the last minute pressures that we all put into our teeth that goal.
So when you think God late and big means you do it all at the last minute pulling an all-nighter and just making it happen. Anyhow, I hook or a crook but early and small means starting at the earliest possible moment with the minimal possible time and investment.
Retirement investment and I've seen that difference myself when I have a beat speech coming or big presentation coming if I start preparing maybe we ahead than the due date when I'm due to deliver the speech or presentation. It doesn't matter. Even if I give just 10 minutes a day on my presentation and do that consistently till the day of the presentation gets nearer.
I sail it through as easily as a as a as a friend of glow of air, but if I keep it pending Indeed the last minute and think about it all the presentations 30 min 30 days to go. I still have a lot of time that lot of time transits itself into just a one-night time where I have to pull an all-nighter and prepare for that silly presentation the next day and that's a huge difference guys.
So if you have something coming up, you can start preparing wide in advance and even small time invested in that project or assignment and saving so much frantic and stressed out stumbling at the eleventh hour. So just take that goal or deadline you have coming up and ask yourself. What is the minimum amount I go do right now to prepare for it. And then the my favorite idea here is to see and track the Listen to begin to accept what it really close.
So have you ever put at that chart that Diane charcoal you all and have you put up that cross for me every need that you followed. It suppose you're in for a 90-day challenge. Imagine putting those ticks or crosses every day to achieve that small goal that you have two for each of those 90 days. How does that feel?
See Remember or something agree when you were really young and you had your parents put up that star chart on the wall where every time you had your veggies already fruits or when you went to bed on time clean your room you would listen to her and pretty soon you started doing all those things virtually without any product from your parents.
That's it guys. There's something powerful about visibly seeing progress towards the hole and then you apply the same technique all essential goals. That won't work. It's wonderful.
So when you begin small that your progress whenever cheering more than what is set for especially those big diversity and as a bonus the actor.
Positively reinforcing our success allows us to remove more enjoyment and satisfaction out of the progress and that's wonderful. So go ahead guys capture the power of those small wins. I wish you all the best. Hey, it's meghna again.
