Hello and welcome to the malkan Show podcast. I am Meghana malkan. Thanks so much for joining me today on this episode of the podcast.

I know your time is valuable and I'm really happy that you're listening to me today I had begun with this podcast because after being coached by the world's best I wanted. Share with you guys what success habits such as tools and queues have helped me get on to higher levels of performance at work.

Have a great relationship with our spouses and kids and what really helps me focused and motivated all the time. So guys let's dive into the next episode.

Do you feel that you're trying to move forward you trying to become the best of yourself, but something just comes in the way as an impediment and you don't know what is that noise is something that we called as blind spots? Essentially. These are areas where your view thinking prevents you from seeing things through accurately.

So just as we all have different ranges for hearing the pitch and seeing the way we see colors we have String bean just for seeing and understanding things in life the age sees things in our own way that's called a perspective. For example, some people naturally see big pictures and Miss smaller details While others naturally see details and we miss the bigger pictures.

Some people are linear thinkers. When asked others think laterally and so on and so forth. So each of us is different in terms of different thinking abilities. So naturally, it's like a rule of law. People will not appreciate what they see what they can't see a person who can't identify patterns and synthesize doesn't know what it's like to see patterns and synthesize any more than a colorblind person.

So these differences and how our brains work are less apparent when differences in how our bodies work? So colorblind people eventually find out that they are colorblind.

Whereas most people never see or understand the ways in which they have these of thinking makes them blind. That's an important thing. So you would never know that you are blind to other ways of thinking to make this concept even harder. We don't like to see ourselves or others have these blind spots.

It's not good. It's not cool, you know, and even though we all have them none of us likes them.

See them and when you point out someone is a psychological weakness. It's generally the same it's already seeing the same be in a way as if you pointed out their physical weakness.

It's not well to see it at all. So if you're like most people you have no clue how other people see things and aren't good at seeing in to understand what they're thinking as well because you too preoccupied with telling them what you yourself think is correct. You're busy telling them your point of view.

Wiley so dad makes you close-minded because you presume too much you presume that he thinks the same thing as you are and this close-mindedness guy turns out to be terribly costly because it causes us to miss out on all sorts of wonderful possibilities and all the dangerous threats that other people might be showing us.

And in a way blocks that criticism that could be constructive and even life-saving for us.

So in a really once you have this barrier, it kind of results that you may end up having disagreements between the person that you were against and you may often end up angry with each other. It seems illogical and it may lead to weakness of optimal decision making you may not like the decision-making process and after all when do people reach opposite conclusions.

Someone must be wrong. Right, shouldn't you want to make sure that someone isn't you would you then like to learn how to get past these blind spots? Of course, you can do it. I understand just how you can do that.

First things first, let's all learn to practice open-mindedness because if you know that you're blind you can figure out a way to see whereas if you don't know that you're blind you continue to bump into problems all the time.

If you recognize that you have these blind spots and if you open-mindedly consider the possibility that others might see something better than you and that all the threats and opportunities. They are trying to point out. They really do exist. Then that makes you more likely to make great decisions.

So this open-mindedness is motivated by this genuine worried that you might not be seeing your choice optimally and that will make that will help you be more open-minded.

So it's kind of you to're developing the ability to explore different points of view and to explore different possibilities without letting your ego or your blind spots.

Get in your way. Of course, it would require to see you let go of being right with the joy of learning what's really true, and being open-minded allows you to get away from controlling your lower level to ensuring that your upper-level season considers all the good choices. And make the best possible decisions and life.

If you acquire this ability, of course, attacked us, we all can you'll be able to deal with your realities more effectively and radically and that lead you to improve your life quicker and faster because most people, unfortunately, don't understand what it means to be open-minded when you ask someone he wants is open-minded mean more often than on the answer would be it would be open to being wrong, but they stubbornly cling to whatever or Opinion is in their head and they failed to understand the reason behind why should you have that alternate points of view?

So it really helps to believe that you might not know the best possible path.

But you recognize that you have that ability to be as well instituted in spite of not knowing and this is way more important than whatever it is that you do know, we usually make bad decisions because you are so certain that we will be right and we don't allow ourselves to see the good Alternatives that exist the better ones that exist.

So when you're being open-minded, you know that what you think is as important as having all the answers, that's what it is. Thinking it really helps is not worrying about looking good but worrying about achieving our goal and so important eyes it will typically try to prove that.

They have the answers even when they don't but they behave in this unproductive way. It's mostly because they believe that they believe the senseless but common view that great people have all the answers and agree people don't have any weaknesses. Which is the biggest funny not only does this you go completely opposite.

What's the reality but it stands in the way of progress real progress. So people interested in making the best possible decisions are rarely confident that they have the best answers.

They recognize that they have the weakness. They have those blind spots and they always seek to learn more so that they can get around them that's being open-minded.

So that leads to the third point which means being open-minded really means remembering that you are looking for the best answer and not simply the best answer that you can come up with yourself.

The answer doesn't have to be in your head. You can look outside yourself and it's perfectly fine.

If you do if you're really looking at things objectively you recognize that the probability of you always having the best answer is really small and that even if you have it, you can't be confident that you do it before others test you.

I don't know what you don't know. And it really has I enough asking this question myself to myself again.

And again, am I seeing this just so my own eyes and if I get the answer is yes, then I should be knowing that I'm terribly handicapped.

This question is a game-changer guy, when you go through situations ask this question to yourself. So when you put all these practices and strategies together into the real-life application, that's when you seek to become really open-minded and that's when you feel that you need to master these strategies more to make the open-minded approach a way of life for you.

Go ahead, guys. Try it out. It's really fun. I wish you all the best.
